We are seeking a commercially minded and detail-oriented Legal & Compliance Advisor to join our in-house team. In this role, you will provide end-to-end legal and regulatory support across our B2B iGaming product and service offering, helping the business navigate a fast-moving, multi-jurisdictional regulatory landscape while enabling sustainable commercial growth.

You will work closely with commercial, product, and technical teams to ensure our platform, partnerships, and operations remain compliant with applicable gaming laws, data protection frameworks, and contractual obligations across a portfolio of operator clients in regulated markets worldwide.

EXPERIENCE
  • 3 - 5 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in iGaming or gambling, preferably in-house.
  • Solid understanding of B2B supplier obligations within regulated gaming frameworks.
  • Proven experience drafting and negotiating technology and commercial agreements.
  • Working knowledge of GDPR, POPI, and other similar information protection legislative frameworks, and their practical application in a technology business context.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to distil complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance.
  • Commercially aware with the ability to balance legal risk against business objectives.

Desirable

  • Experience with AML/CFT compliance programmes in a gaming or fintech context.
  • Familiarity with certification and technical compliance standards, such as GLI, BMM, and iTech Labs.
  • Exposure to IP, software licensing, or open-source compliance matters.
  • Experience supporting regulatory applications and submissions in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Proficiency in a second language, such as Spanish, French, or Brazilian Portuguese.

Qualifications
  • Qualified attorney or equivalent common legal qualification, not necessarily a South African LLB.
Required Outputs

Regulatory Compliance & Licensing

  • Monitor and interpret gaming regulations across multiple global regions such as LATAM, North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia as they apply to B2B suppliers.
  • Support the maintenance and renewal of B2B supplier licences, certificates, and registrations, including preparation of regulatory submissions.
  • Track legislative and regulatory developments globally, assess business impact, and brief internal stakeholders on required responses.
  • Liaise with regulators and external counsel on compliance queries, inspections, and correspondence.

Commercial & Contractual

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including platform supply agreements, reseller agreements, white-label contracts, API integration agreements, and NDAs.
  • Advise internal commercial and account management teams on contractual risks, obligations, and escalations.
  • Maintain and improve standard contract templates and playbooks to enable efficient deal execution.
  • Support partnership due diligence and new market entry from a legal and compliance perspective.

Data Protection & Privacy

  • Act as a subject matter expert on GDPR and other applicable data protection regimes relevant to the B2B iGaming sector.
  • Maintain and update data processing agreements (DPAs), Records of Processing Activities (RoPAs), POPIA and PAIA Manuals, and privacy notices.
  • Advise on data sharing arrangements with operator clients, third-party processors, and technology partners.
  • Support responses to data subject requests and data breach incidents.

AML, Responsible Gambling & Financial Crime

  • Maintain and enhance the company’s AML/CFT policies and procedures in line with applicable regulations and FATF guidance.
  • Support the implementation of responsible gambling obligations applicable to B2B suppliers, including technical and contractual requirements passed through from operator clients.
  • Conduct periodic internal compliance reviews and support any external audits or regulatory examinations.

Internal Legal Support & Governance

  • Provide day-to-day legal guidance across business functions, including but not limited to product, finance, people and culture, and marketing.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal policies, procedures, and compliance training materials.
  • Manage and instruct external legal counsel where required, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality of advice.
  • Support corporate governance matters, including board minutes, entity management, and subsidiary compliance.

Gaming Standards & Technical Compliance

  • Advise on legal and regulatory requirements relating to game and platform certification, including engagement with approved testing laboratories such as GLI, BMM, eCOGRA, and similar.
  • Support the business in understanding and meeting technical compliance standards imposed by regulators as a condition of B2B supplier approval, including RNG certification, RTP requirements, and game fairness obligations.
  • Review and advise on technical compliance clauses in operator agreements, ensuring obligations around certification, audit access, and regulatory reporting are appropriately allocated.
  • Liaise with product and engineering teams to identify compliance implications of new product features, game mechanics, or platform changes ahead of release.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving technical standards, such as player protection tooling mandates and API reporting requirements, and advise on implementation timelines and obligations.
